If you are affiliated with a grant-making corporation or a foundation—perhaps a family foundation—we would love to hear from you. The Zoological Society of San Diego (doing business as San Diego Zoo Global), a 501(c)3 organization, has a wide variety of projects and programs in need of funding—from small equipment to major capital projects, as well as local and global wildlife conservation, pre-school education through post-graduate internships, and programs benefiting the disadvantaged. Opportunities are numerous, and carry with them recognition of your generosity.
Following are some of our priorities:
Help us to recover vulnerable populations of endangered species of animals or plants, here in Southern California or in 35 countries around the world. Assist economic sustainability projects with people in biodiversity "hotspots." Help add to the body of knowledge of rare wildlife species about which little is known. Invest in the future through fellowships or endowments.
Provide meaningful encounters by underserved K-12 school groups with animals at the Zoo and Safari Park, or send science classes to our Conservation Education Lab to learn hands-on conservation research techniques. Support summer workshops in conservation science for teachers nationwide, interns for summer camp, teen mentors, and animal outreach programs to Title I schools, pediatric patients at hospitals, facilities for the abused, or senior centers.
Help us to purchase veterinary equipment for preventive and emergency care at the Zoo and Safari Park. Assist in finding causes of diseases that affect exotic wildlife here and around the globe, and help ensure that our animals receive the best possible veterinary care. Help support nutrition research and practices that benefit a wide variety of species in our care and outside of our collection.
Be a part of the extraordinary exhibits that attract visitors from around the world, the construction, the botanical palette, the interpretive plan, and the ongoing pursuit of excellence in animal habitats.
