Summer Camp

Five-day Adventures

It's not too early to start planning for summer. Explore the wonderful world of animals through camp adventures that include animal encounters, behind-the-scenes visits, bus rides, games, and edible food crafts! Each camp is five days, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, unless otherwise noted. Adventures in Art is a blended art camp for grade 4 through adult, available to all skill levels.

Please select the grade your child will be entering in the fall.

Pre-K

  • Cub Camp: Animals Play Too!

    Youngsters will have a ton of fun during this half-day program. This week focuses on animal play with animal encounters, games, and food crafts.

  • Cub Camp: Zoo Work is Fun Play!

  • Classic Camp: The ABCs of Animals

    The alphabet of animals, from armadillos to zebras, includes crafts, games, animal presentations, and visits to off-exhibit areas.

  • Classic Camp: Meet the Beasts!

    Meet all kinds of beasts: mammals, birds, and reptiles, too. Get up close to camels and feed treats to the giant tortoises.

    Explore designs of nature through patterns and shapes.

  • Classic Camp: Mad About Mammals

    Exploring spotted cats from the jungle and special encounters with prairie dogs who "dig" life underground are just a few highlights.

  • Classic Camp: Furry Friends

    This camp is all about making friends on the furry side. Tigers, bus rides, and adventures with hippos will leave lasting impressions!

2nd Grade

  • Classic Camp: Friends that Fly

    Campers will get a chance to compare friends that fly with friends who are ground-bound, including Matilda the laughing kookaburra and her tree-mate the koala.

    Compare and contrast things with wings and creatures that prefer the ground, from flying monkeys to majestic birds that soar in the sky.

    After lizard feedings and giant snake encounters with keepers, campers are sure to find a soft spot in their hearts for these misunderstood creatures.

    Being on the strange side of wildlife makes you extra cool! Treks into the Reptile House, bug catching, and watching snakes being served their special dinners will leave lasting impressions.

    Because animals are unique and amazing, it takes thinking outside the box for keepers, trainers, vets, and even the animals themselves to face the challenges involved. In this program, teen teams venture out to encounter tons of animals as they solve crazy challenges and mysteries!

  • Epic Teen Adventures: Race for Life

    Lots of sports, games, and activities often include races, but when animals race, it’s about life itself. This fun teen program will explore some of the world’s most extreme animal adaptations. Teens will venture out in groups to unearth the what, why, and where that makes these animals stand out. There are tons of animal encounters, as well as extreme and fast-paced activities.

  • Photography Teen Adventure

    Behind the Eye of the Camera: Too cool for school! You will learn basic to professional composition, exposure, focusing, lighting and editing, and you’ll be doing it with your camera focused on exotic animals! You’ll have the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the Zoo and to hang with like-minded teens who see photography as a way to express one’s self. Showcase your work in a spot on the Zoo’s website!
