It's not too early to start planning for summer. Explore the wonderful world of animals through five-day adventures that include animal encounters, behind-the-scenes visits, bus rides, games, and edible food crafts! Choose one or two weeks of fun by grade level:

  • Summer Camp: Kindergarten

    An Introduction to the World of Critters

    Meet the Beasts
    Meet all kinds of beasts: mammals, birds, and reptiles, too. Get up close to camels and feed treats to the giant tortoises.

    The ABC's of Animals
    The alphabet of animals, from armadillos to zebras, includes crafts, games, animal presentations, and visits to off-exhibit areas.

  • Summer Camp: 1st Grade

    A Close Look at Mammals

    Furry Friends
    This camp is all about making friends on the furry side. Tigers, bus rides, and adventures with hippos will leave lasting impressions!

    Mad About Mammals
    Exploring spotted cats from the jungle and special encounters with prairie dogs who "dig" life underground are just a few highlights.

  • Summer Camp: 2nd Grade

    Comparing Flying and Land Animals

    Things with Wings
    Compare and contrast things with wings and creatures that prefer the ground, from flying monkeys to majestic birds that soar in the sky.

    Friends that Fly
    Campers will get a chance to compare friends that fly with friends who are ground-bound including Matilda the laughing kookaburra and her tree-mate the koala.

    Cool Animals with Bad Reputations

    Wildlife Weirdos
    Being on the strange side of wildlife makes you extra cool! Treks into the Reptile House, bug catching, and watching snakes being served their special dinners will leave lasting impressions.

    Animal Outlaws
    After lizard feedings and giant snake encounters with keepers, campers are sure to find a soft spot in their hearts for these misunderstood creatures.

    Adaptations Help Animals Survive

    Animal Body Builders
    Tongues that grasp, noses with amazing suction power, insects with horns, and much more will be explored in this fun camp dedicated to a closer look at adaptations.

    Parts for Stayin' Alive
    Learn about adaptations so incredible that you'll have to tell your friends about them.

    It's an amazing city at the San Diego Zoo, and you'll get an inside look. From keepers to trainers, we'll cover most of the Zoo and discover which career has the most thrills.

    Backstage at the Zoo
    Campers will be exploring the Zoo from the backside of things! We'll look at everything from the most dangerous Zoo jobs to the most glamorous.

    It's a Zoo in Here!
    It's an amazing city at the San Diego Zoo, and you'll get an inside look. From keepers to trainers, we'll cover most of the Zoo and discover which career has the most thrills.

    Campers will be exploring the Zoo from the backside of things! We'll look at everything from the most dangerous Zoo jobs to the most glamorous.

    Some animal behaviors look weird, but they're connected to survival. Get to know our gorilla troop with special roof-top viewing, and ride the Skyfari for a closer look at polar bear behavior.

    Home Sweet Habitat
    Campers get ready to explore animal habitats! After feeding some animals, we'll talk to keepers and look behind-the-scenes at our habitats. We'll ride the Skyfari across the Zoo to explore life on the tundra.
