NASCAR x 23XI x San Diego Zoo

NASCAR at the San Diego Zoo

Join us Thursday, June 18 as NASCAR makes it’s debut at the San Diego Zoo. As a proud partner of 23XI Racing, car #45 will be at the Zoo for you to experience between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Spot the custom wildlife pattern on the car and snap a selfie ahead of this weekend’s inaugural race at Naval Base Coronado.

On race weekend, 23XI Racing will feature the spots and stripes of big cats from the Zoo on each of their stock cars.

Bubba Wallace will be driving car #23 featuring the stealthy spots of a leopard. Different species of these big cats live throughout Africa and Asia. Their fur color helps them blend into their surroundings, and leopard fur can range from almost white to nearly black. Follow your natural curiosity to the Zoo to learn more about leopards and their native landscapes—and how your visits are creating a brighter future for them and wildlife worldwide.

At lightning speed, spot car #45 driven by Tyler Reddick, as it flys by like a cheetah. The fastest land mammal on Earth, they’re able to run up to 70 miles per hour—which is almost 30 miles per hour faster than a racehorse. To reach this super sleek speed, cheetahs are off the ground for more than half of their running time! Come curious and connect with cheetahs for yourself at the Zoo while you discover how your visits are making a difference for wildlife through our Savanna Conservation Hub.

Featuring the stripes of the powerful tiger, car #67 will be driven by Corey Heim. Tigers are recognized by their iconic stripes, and it may surprise you that each tiger’s stripe pattern is unique, just like our fingerprints. Speaking of people, tiger’s night vision is also six times better than ours. Tigers are endangered, and we’re working to safeguard their future through our Asia Conservation Hub. Come curious and experience these mesmerizing big cats when you visit the Zoo.

Car #35 celebrates the spots of the elusive jaguar and will be driven by Riley Herbst. Jaguars are the largest cats in the Western Hemisphere and the third largest on the planet—only lions and tigers are bigger. They use their climbing skills to help them ambush their prey, both during the day and night. Jaguars are threatened, and San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is working to save, protect, and care for them and the tropical forests they rely on through our Amazonia Conservation Hub. Curious enough to meet one for yourself?
