Children younger than age 15 must be accompanied by a paid adult; maximum 2 children per paid adult. Ages 0–2 are free and do not require a ticket, but must sit on an adult's lap.
If anyone in your party requires an accommodation (such as an attendant, service animal, wheelchair, or other mobility device), please call 619-718-3000 before booking. This allows us to reserve appropriate space on the tour cart and make any necessary arrangements to provide the best possible experience, including accessible seating or alternative cart options.
Designed for all ages, the Discovery Tour offers a fun, personal, and interactive 60-minute adventure around the San Diego Zoo with a small group led by a knowledgeable Zoo Educator. This engaging, hands-on experience allows you to hop off the cart to explore wildlife habitats, ask questions, and learn fascinating stories about the wildlife in our care and how the Zoo helps protect wildlife worldwide. It’s the perfect way for families to make memories while sparking curiosity and wonder for guests of all ages.
This experience includes:
- Traveling by expedition cart with a friendly Zoo Educator
- Hopping off the cart to explore wildlife habitats more closely than the Guided Bus Tour
- An interactive and engaging experience with a small group
- Hearing fun and educational stories about wildlife and conservation
