Need a little extra time? Your campers can join the Zoo Education team for our Extended Fun program, allowing you to drop off and pick up campers outside regular camp hours. And while Summer Camp has a fast-paced schedule and everyone moves as a unit, in Extended Fun, campers can choose their activity. They can play a game, watch a movie, have some outdoor fun, or make some creative art! After a day of structured programming, many campers crave some downtime. Extended Fun also allows secure childcare for caregivers who need to drop off campers between 7:30 and 8:45 a.m. or need to pick them up between 3 and 5:30 p.m.
You do not need to choose morning or afternoon times because the price of Extended Fun includes all mornings and afternoons throughout the week booked. Sample activities during Extended Fun include:
- Arts and crafts
- Games (both indoor and outdoor)
- Snack time (Please make sure to pack your camper an afternoon snack)
- Afternoon movie time
- Connecting with new friends

No arrivals before 7:30 a.m. Campers must be picked up by 5:30 p.m., or a $35 late fee will be charged each day of late pickup.
The health and safety of our campers and team members is our highest priority. The San Diego Zoo adheres to San Diego County, California Department of Social Services, California Department of Public Health, and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for summer camps and childcare facilities. Please be advised we may make modifications to our existing camp program to be in alignment with these guidelines.
