The San Diego Zoo started with a roar in 1916, when Dr. Harry Wegeforth was inspired to create a Zoo for the children of San Diego. This initial inspiration is at the heart of our more than century-long commitment to education, and especially to children.

Thank you for considering the San Diego Zoo for your students' next adventure! Reservations for the 2024/2025 school year are now open. Explore a variety of exciting options available for students from San Diego County, Southern California, and beyond—your unforgettable journey starts here!
Requirements
- A minimum of 15 participants per group is required.
- A maximum of 150 participants per group, per reservation, is allowed.
- A minimum of 1 adult chaperone, age 21 and older, for every 10 participants is required.
- Reservations are required one month in advance.
- Limit one visit per teacher, per school year.
- Groups must arrive and enter together.

San Diego County public or private schools wishing to participate in the San Diego County Schools Field Trip Program must reside in San Diego County and be listed on the CA Department of Education Directory.

Southern California Students

- Grades K-12
Southern California public or private schools wishing to participate in the Southern California Field Trip Program must reside in Southern California* and be listed on the CA Department of Education Directory.
*Rates applicable to Southern California schools from Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Imperial, and Riverside counties visiting for educational purposes.
All Other Students
$33 for each guest ages 17 and younger | $38 for each guest ages 18 and older
Schools outside Southern California are eligible for a discounted rate.
Rates applicable to US national (excludes Southern California) and international schools visiting for educational purposes.
Youth Groups
$33 for each guest ages 17 and younger | $38 for each guest ages 18 and older
Youth groups (such as Scout troops, Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, and extracurricular programs) are eligible for a discounted rate.
